First unit done

Finished with my assessment for Design Fundamentals. My mind is still on elements and principles mode. It is very informative in that now I can start looking around our house and think of what principle or elements I would like to incorporate. What features would I like to focus on? What would I like to change? What are the parameters?

It was a race to get everything done. I didn't realize how much work I have to do. This really feels like proper studying.

Next paper is not due until March 26ish. I have 3 weeks to work on it. It looks like it's going to require me to actually go out and explore the industry. It can be totally fun or totally frustrating! Either way I know it's going to be hard work.

In between assignments

I did say I plan to finish my moodboard the following day but due to unavoidable circumstances (missing my bus 3 times, Martin back home from his holiday, stocktake, tv), I still haven't finished it. It is 95% complete though, I just need to glue all the photos and embellishments onto an A3 cartridge paper and label the ideas and I'm finished. I still have 2 major tasks to do. I've been cutting photos from magazines all afternoon and I decided to catch a break because I am getting sleepy having to read and flick through magazines for hours. Why does it always seem tiring when it is a form of study as oppose to just doing it because you enjoy it? Is it because you're forced to look at or study things even when you don't particularly like it? Or is it just being stubborn and not wanting to do what you're told? Whatever it is, the workload seemed more than what I signed up for.

The Basics

My partner and I just bought a house and we couldn't have been happier where we are. It's been five months and now it's time to think aesthetics. The house itself is still reasonably suitable for our needs but it just doesn't reflect our personality yet. So I decided to take up a course on Interior Decor.

From here on, I will endeavour to chronicle my progress, both with my studies and our house.

Basics on the house:
2 bedroom
1 lounge
1 study/sun room
1 kitchen
1 bathroom
1 toilet
garden facing the road
carport at the back

My studies - currently studying design fundamentals. I am in the middle of completing an inspirational moodboard that should reflect who I am as a person. I've got ribbons, metal embellishments, photos and intend to add some more textured paper and patterned fabric.

I plan to finish it tomorrow.
